Twitter has ruined my brain.

I login here to try to write something, and I can’t think of more than one sentence.

Fast times…

So here we are, November 2009…the holidays are fast approaching. I have an itching to write again, so naturally I dusted off Theep Doughts. I’m also going to try to share links to what I’m reading, so a template change might be in order for that. But maybe not.

Indian Smile – Friday Foto

Indian Smile, originally uploaded by philputnam.

Wow, 2 weeks in a row, pretty unheard of in these parts. I took this on my trip to India in 2005. I had processed it back then, but for some reason never uploaded it to Flickr. So I made some adjustments to improve the 4 year old processing.

So…how are you doing?

Abigail Clover

So I’m still on my bi-annual schedule for posting pictures. Two a year is apparently my pace. This is one from our recent trip back to Wilmore (aka Mecca). Abigail had eaten a red popsicle and had nice, rosy lips.

The Family is not Valued

Barack Obama quietly overturned the so-called “gag rule” on Friday, announcing it at 7 pm so as to limit the press coverage of the event. This action now allows federal funding to overseas groups who provide “family planning” services that include abortion. His statement that he released with the announcement said that abortion will promote “global economic development”.

Over the weekend, Nancy Pelosi said that we need birth control (including abortion) to improve our economy here in the USA.

Meanwhile, Japanese corporations are giving their workers more time off so they can “multiply”. The reason? To improve their economy. Japan is in the midst of a long recession with an aging population, and they are not replacing themselves fast enough. At one time, Japan had the same mentality of Nancy Pelosi. Can we be so near-sighted that we can’t see correlations to our own situation?

Are we going to have to go through the same process that Japan is trying to come out of, in order to learn the lessons that Japan is now trying to correct?

Families strengthen our country. Liberals have always targeted the nuclear family, knowing it was the primary thing keeping them from achieving their goals of creating a dependent society. Barack Obama did not win election based on his abortion policy. Indeed, it was hardly mentioned. Hopefully Americans will speak up on this vital issue, not just of abortion, but of the attitude about children and families that treats them as the scourge of society that must be contained.

*UPDATE*

Point…WordPress

One major advantage for WordPress, I can post from out in the country in Indiana. It’s really cold up here, we may go ice skating on the pond. It’s about 6 inches thick right now. We were walking on it to test it, and a big crack appeared. We were completely safe, but it scared the bejeebers out of me.

Decisions…

I’ve barely made any new posts on WordPress, but so far I’m really impressed. It’s a lot simpler to manage, and I can tweak the themes a lot easier, not to mention a ton of widgets and add-ons. For instance, I made a poll really quickly and I can add it pretty easily to a post, just like this:

That was easy. Plus I can post from my iPhone with the app, although so far I’ve found it mostly useless without copy/paste functionality. That will soon change, though, I’m pretty sure. So I’m gonna double post for a little while, but eventually I’ll likely move on over here permanently.

The Public is Reminded…

From a CBS2 Chicago report on the arrest of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich, the reporter helpfully gives a disclaimer, lest we believe the worst about the man.

The public is reminded that a complaint contains only charges and is not evidence of guilt. The defendants are presumed innocent and are entitled to a fair trial at which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.

Of course, this is a standard disclaimer that they use at the bottom of all stories about criminal charges against elected officials, regardless of party affiliation.

Flag Girl, FFF #28

Flag girl, originally uploaded by philputnam.

A late Friday Foto, but we’ve had a busy day. Here’s a shot from last night’s festivities. And a bonus photo of the fireworks. I’ll have more of these types of shots on my Flickr page.

Happy Birthday USA!
